It is with great sadness that we share of the passing of Doris Brown. Founding Director A.T. and Doris Brown together ministered at Cedarkirk for over 20 years. Doris is fondly remembered at camp for her warm welcome, listening ear, and loving spirit. She impacted the lives of countless campers, summer staff, and retreat guests. We celebrate her amazing 89 years of life lived in service to our Lord and rejoice in her legacy at Cedarkirk and throughout the church.
The life and ministry of Doris Brown will be celebrated at the Black Mountain Presbyterian Church (Black Mountain, NC) at 2:00pm on September 7. Doris and A.T.’s family requests that memorial gifts be given to Cedarkirk in her honor for the new dining hall (designated towards the Brown Initiative). Please pray for A.T. and the entire Brown family as they grieve this loss.
The A.T. & Doris Brown Initiative
Founding Director AT and Doris Brown played key roles in establishing and developing this special place apart and unique ministry. In their 20 years of service at Cedarkirk, they touched the lives of so many children, youth, and adults and had a profound impact. In order to highlight the work of these special people, we are hoping to raise $1,000,000 in their honor and to name the new dining hall on their behalf. Our goal is recognize 1,000 donations of $1,000 or more. Gifts made to the campaign can be designated to the Brown Initiative.
