Each year, thousands of youth and adults have life-changing and enriching experiences at Cedarkirk. This ministry is important in the life of churches and individuals in both Tampa Bay and Peace River Presbyteries. While both Presbyteries support our program and operations, work is left undone due to a lack of funds for improvement, renovations, and program enhancement.
Have you heard the story of…
…a youth being raised by his grandparents who was struggling with the recent passing of his grandfather? This young man had been reserved and conflicted following his loss. During a worship service of the camp community, he encountered God in a way that reminded him that God had not abandoned him; that God loves him; and that God has a plan for his life.
… a young adult on summer staff who was wrestling with discerning what was next for her after graduation? Through a summer of service at camp, this young woman encountered God in a way that opened her heart to the possibility of continued service to God in the mission field.
… an adult participant who encountered the presence of God by serving those who are less wealthy in the eyes of the world? An encounter with God during her participation in the Challenge to Change program altered her view of all of God’s children, her fellow brothers and sisters, and she surrendered her life to the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
The Board of Directors of Presbyterian Camp and Conference Ministries invites you to join us in ministry by becoming “Friends of Cedarkirk”. Funds generated by this ongoing program will be used at Cedarkirk to:
Friends will be kept informed of fund expenditure and ongoing facility and program activities at Cedarkirk. In addition, Friends will be hosted at an annual Friends gathering and receive all Cedarkirk mailings. For more information on becoming a Friend of Cedarkirk, please contact the camp office at firstname.lastname@example.org or (813) 685-4224.
Our mission statement is short and simple. We are a place apart to build up the body of Christ in love. That means providing programs, spaces, and experiences where people connect with one another and with God in transforming ways. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we witness lives changed and hearts opened to the love and grace of God. Your support, gifts, and prayers help make this life-changing ministry possible.
In early May, the Cedarkirk staff and Board gathered with many of the Friends of Cedarkirk to celebrate their support and love for this ministry. Our time together featured slideshows about the impact of the Friends gifts and updates about improvements and additions to the program and facility over the past year. The event was highlighted by the opportunity for the Friends to designate this year’s fund of over $7,000. The Friends of Cedarkirk is a designated fund used to help purchase items or improvements for the camp that would not typically be in the annual budget. These special gifts help to enhance the experience for campers and year-round guests. This year’s purchased included items like new hammocks for weekend guests, a variety of pool deck furniture, new rocking chairs, a peace pole, new sand for the Gaga Pit, a new portable sound system, a new golf cart, and several items for the kitchen. While not all of our Friends and supporters could come to celebrate with us, we are incredibly grateful to all of you who help support this unique ministry. If you were not able to make it to the Friends event this year and would still like to help, please visit Cedarkirk’s Amazon wish list to learn more our summer camp supply needs. We truly are blessed to have such generous supporters of this place and the ministry that happens here. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, Cedarkirk is a place of welcome, growth, and transformation. Thank you for partnering with us in ministry.
