SUMMARY:Spring Break Day Camp
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER ONLINE\n\nADVENTURE DAY CAMP | PARENT HANDBOOK\n\n** Register under “Cedarkirk Events 2025” \nSpring Break Day Camp runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm\, Monday through Friday. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho is Spring Break Day Camp for:\nCurrent K-5th graders. \nDay Camp at a Glance\nOur adventure-based\, faith-focused day camps will provide your camper with a week full of outdoor adventure. Day campers will play outside\, make friends\, try some new adventures\, and grow in their faith. \nHow We Do Day Camp\nYour camper will be part of a “family group” – a group of campers with their counselors. It is with this small group that each camper will experience all of Cedarkirk’s activities. A few times a day the family groups will join together (lunch\, large group games\, etc.). With this family group model your camper can expect to make new friends\, try new things\, and grow in their faith. This model allows our counselors to focus on each camper as group member – and as an individual. It also ensures the highest level of supervision so that every camper feels safe\, included\, and part of something bigger than themselves. \nAdventure-Based\nMuch of your camper’s day will be spent outdoors participating in camp activities like the climbing wall\, arts & crafts\, devotion\, creek stomping and shark’s tooth hunting\, zip lining\, swimming in our pool\, and more! One of Cedarkirk’s greatest assets is our beautiful\, wooded property and we use it fully for our camp programs. Even though we’re just down the road\, driving onto camp property feels like you’re leaving the world far behind\, which is ideal for campers to have ample time to just be kids! Of course\, summer days in Florida are hot and we build in ample down time to cool off\, hydrate\, and get ready for the next activity. \nFaith-Focused\nIn addition to the exciting camp activities\, the core of our program is daily devotion and opportunities to explore faith. Once a day our counselors lead campers through a weekly curriculum that will help campers learn more about their faith and strengthen their relationship with God. We want every camper to know that God loves them and that this is a safe space for them to ask tough questions and figure out how to connect more with God in new ways. \nOur Staff\nThe best part of our program is our exceptional summer staff. We go to great lengths to select and train enthusiastic\, dedicated\, and responsible young adults to ensure a safe\, meaningful\, and fun experience for your child. Each staff member is background checked to Florida Level II standards\, trained in first aid\, CPR\, and the use of an AED\, and participates in a rigorous staff training. If you have questions about how we screen or train our staff\, please reach out to one of our directors (contact info below). \nLunch\n** New for 2025** Cedarkirk will now be providing lunch for all day camp campers.\nDay Camp groups will be having lunch in the  middle of the day before resuming with their scheduled activities. Cedarkirk will also provide a snack to every camper toward the end of the camp day. (If your camper has a special diet or food allergies\, please include that in their Health Form during the registration process so we can accommodate them.) \nDrop Off & Pick Up\n* Camper drop off each day is from 8:30 am to 9:00 am.\n* Camper pick up each day is from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm.\n* We do not accommodate drop off before 8:30 am or pick up after 5:00 pm. Repeated violation of the drop off / pick up timeframe may result in removal of your camper from the program. \nDrop off and pick up are pretty quick processes. We’ll ask you to sign your camper in at the beginning of each day and then you can head out (please allow a little extra time the first day for us to check approved pick-up names\, verify health info\, etc.). At pick up we’ll bring your camper to you as we’re checking ID and signing your camper out; then you can just listen as your camper recounts stories from the day or sings silly camp songs they’ve learned. \n*Please allow a little additional time for Monday’s drop off so you can verify your list of authorized pick up persons and review the health and contact info you submitted for your camper. Do note that we require any person picking up a camper to present photo identification and be on your pre-approved list of authorized persons.

We are highlighting the staff years from 2000-2019\, though anyone who has ever served on summer staff is welcome to join us. \nAs you know\, summer staff are the linchpin in our summer camp programs. You are the ones who create and uphold the spirit of this place each summer and ensure that spiritual growth\, adventure\, and mutual respect permeate every aspect of camp. People like you have made this ministry work for 50 years. We also recognize that the relationships you formed during your time on staff and the experiences you shared here were likely formative in your life. We want to help you reconnect with Cedarkirk and with one another and build a network of Cedarkirk alumni who can continue to support one another. \nWe want to invite you back to camp with other counselors from your era to reminisce\, relax\, and continue to feed each other spiritually. We’ll do some camp activities\, cook a meal out over a fire\, have song time\, do a little camp worship\, and have plenty of time to relax and enjoy each other’s company. SUMMARY:Program Connection 2024
DESCRIPTION:Program Connection 2024\nAn engaging conference for program-minded camp and conference professionals. \nHosted at Cedarkirk Camp & Conference Center | Lithia\, FL\nREGISTER FOR PROGRAM CONNECTION \nPROGRAM CONNECTION is a meeting of program-minded professionals from faith-based camps and retreat centers in the U.S. and Canada. It is an affirming and uplifting time and space to discuss theory and practice\, to ask questions and share experience and resources. \nBuilt on the idea that we build each other up and improve our ministries through the sharing of insight\, experience\, and lessons-learned\, we will spend time in discussion\, spiritual retreat\, networking\, and learn during workshops with experts in various fields. You will leave refreshed and energized with lots of new ideas and resources. \nKeynote Sessions\n\n\n\n\nKey Theology for Camp Ministry:\nEmpowering Young Adults Through Faith Formation\nLed by: Rev. Kelly Fitzgerald & Rev. Anne Russ\n\n\n\n\n\nCurrent Practices in Human Resources and Staff Onboarding\nLed by: Annie Taylor Slattery\n\n\n\nFaith formation for young adults is an essential aspect of camp and conference ministry. We expect our young staff to provide spiritual leadership and education to our campers\, but how do we engage a generation of Jesus followers who haven’t grown up in the church and might need some leadership of their own? How can we equip and inspire them to lead with confidence and create the kinds of safe and open spaces we strive to create each summer? \nAnne and Kelly will present a core theology for camp ministry to help you impart key concepts to your staff during training and continue the process of education and growth throughout the summer camp season.\n\nLarge companies are great at hiring and onboarding employees in a way that not only prepares them for their positions\, but empowers them to thrive within the framework they’ll be working in. Few camps have a dedicated HR team\, but there are basic strategies we can implement in our organizations to set ourselves up for success. \nThis workshop will focus on universal standards of HR compliance as well as best practices for hiring employees in a way that invites them into your mission and ensures their success. You will identify where and how your staff selection and hiring processes can be streamlined and have an opportunity to get answers to those vexing questions that pop up every hiring season.\n\n\nRev. Kelly Fitzgerald\nKelly is a pastor\, artist\, recreation leader\, family ministry specialist\, and president of the Cedarkirk Camp & Conference Center board. She is also the mom of three\, so she lives intergenerational ministry on the daily.Rev. SUMMARY:Cedarkirk Virtual Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:Cedarkirk Virtual Races\nREGISTER FOR THE RACE\nGo for a run in your own neighborhood while virtually joining others in the Cedarkirk family. There are three options to choose from – so we’ve got something for you\, whether you’re a “runner” or not. Every participant gets a limited edition Cedarkirk race tee-shirt and sticker – and – depending on your time\, you could find yourself in possession of a coveted prize. \n\n\n\nCedarkirk 5k\nThis is a classic distance for runners and walkers of all kinds. Run or walk your 3.1 miles and find out how you stack up against everybody else!\n\n\nCedarkirk 0.5k\nIf you’re not feeling up to a 5k\, but still want to participate\, this might be more your speed. It’s only 0.3107 miles\, which is really just one loop around the block\, right? You can join the fun and wear your Cedarkirk race tee with pride. (Tell everyone it was a 50k if you really want.)\n\n\nCedarkirk 500 miles\nMany of you fondly remember the line dance we do to “I Would Walk 500 Miles.” In honor of that bit of camp culture\, you can sign up for this race with friends and family. Over the course of two months\, your group needs to collectively log 500 miles of walking. (For example\, if you have 6 people in your group\, you each have to walk 1.5 miles each day during the race window to hit 500 miles\n\n\n\n\nThe process is simple:\n1. Sign up for the race of your choice.\n2. Run/walk your chosen distance at some point during the race’s dates.\n3. Report your time through the race website.\n4. See if you qualified for special prizes! \nREGISTER FOR THE RACE\nHere’s a snapshot of the artwork for the race tee:

SUMMARY:StoryShare
DESCRIPTION:Cedarkirk’s story is the collection of stories held by the people who have built this place\, shaped this place\, and grown to call it home. After 50 years of ministry\, there are plenty of stories to share. The stories bind us together and allow us all to share in the big picture of Cedarkirk’s ministry. \nThat’s where you come in: we want to hear your stories! We want to hear them all – the funny ones and the ones that bring a tear to your eye. You can share about the ways Cedarkirk changed your life or just a vivid memory that really stands out in your mind. \nYou don’t have to be the world’s greatest speaker – we just want to hear your experience in your own words. (See the “Helpful Hints” section below to make your story the best it can be!) Our goal is to piece these stories together into a video about the way Cedarkirk has helped people draw closer to God and to one another over the last half-century. \nHow to participate: \n\nThink of a story or memory from your time at Cedarkirk.\nWrite it down or run through it a few times so it’s fresh in your head.\nRecord yourself (or have someone record you) telling the story.\nEmail the file to stories@cedarkirk.com. Include your name and a few sentences about your association with Cedarkirk (when you attended\, who you came with\, etc.).\n\nHelpful Hints: \n\nBe mindful of your pacing and speak slowly – many people speak too quickly on camera. If it feels a little slow to you\, it’s probably just right.\nEnunciate your words clearly. We won’t be able to share your story if we can’t understand what you’re saying!\nBe animated! The more excited and engaged you seem\, the better your story will translate to video.\nFeel free to write your story down\, but remember that you’ll be on video\, so you do need to look at the camera from time to time. (You can print some key words in large letters and post it next to your camera so it appears you’re looking straight at the screen. There are also free “teleprompter” apps you can download to your computer or smartphone so you can read and still look at the camera.)\nTry to avoid rambling and keep your video to a few minutes or less. We’ll do some editing\, but we’d love it if you could keep it brief.\nEnsure your background is exciting\, but not too distracting. (If you don’t want everyone seeing the unfolded laundry on your couch\, maybe step outside for a more natural setting.)\nIf you’re filming on a smartphone\, make sure you are filming horizontally\, with the phone turned sideways. We can’t use videos filmed vertically!\nDo a very quick test video to make sure you can be heard clearly and aren’t too far away from the microphone.\nHave fun! If you’re excited about your story the viewer will be\, too!

SUMMARY:Confirmation Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Help your confirmation students put the pieces together.\nCome see why so many join us for our annual Confirmation Retreats. For 20 years\, Cedarkirk has been combining confirmation study with community building through engaging group study\, fun\, and recreation. \nThis is a time for confirmands to: \n~Gain a greater understanding of the church within the Presbyterian Church (USA) \n~Build relationships with their peers and the adults who are helping to shape their faith. \nSTUDY:\nParticipants will go through the process of new church development as they work their way through the theme: Building a Church. From writing a statement of faith and mission statement for their ‘new’ church to studying the covenant relationship with a presbytery\, confirmands will explore and discuss why the greater church might consider starting a new worshiping community. This is really an overview of all the confirmation curriculum you will cover in your individual classes. Students will articulate what they believe and gain a greater appreciation of what it takes to work together to build a church family that worships God\, supports one another\, and reaches into the world. \nCOMMUNITY BUILDING:\nIn addition to the time for study there will time for recreation like climbing our rock wall\, whizzing through the trees on our zip tower\, group games\, and more. Of course\, there is also time spent around the table enjoying meals with good food and friends. Cedarkirk is a safe environment for sharing and articulating one’s faith. \nDETAILS:\nThis event begins with registration from 7:00-8:00pm on Friday and ends after lunch on Sunday (about 1:15pm). The cost is $80 for rustic lodging and $120 for climate-controlled lodging. Fee includes lodging\, activities\, meals (Saturday breakfast-Sunday lunch)\, and two evening snacks. \nRegister by mailing\, emailing\, or faxing in a Group Registration Form or by contacting us: info@cedarkirk.org or 813.685.4224 x2. Each participant (adult and youth) must also bring an Individual Registration Form with them to Check-In.
