As we enter our 50th year of ministry, we’d love to have your help sprucing up some things around camp! With limited guests on site these days, it’s the perfect time to invite our friends out for some volunteering.
EVENT DETAILS
These free Friday/Saturday events will give you and your family time for work and service to Cedarkirk, as well as some activities and relaxation at your home away from home. We’ll begin Friday night with some outdoor, distanced activities (e.g. campfire and line dance), followed by some time to unwind on your own or with your family. We’ll continue with breakfast on Saturday and then split into work groups for the day (with a break for lunch). If you’d like to join us for Saturday only, that is fine, too!
We have plenty of jobs for a variety of skill levels. Light construction, painting, roofing, landscaping, van washing, and trail/brush trimming are some of the projects we’ll be tackling. (Jobs that don’t allow for adequate social distancing will be completed by family units.)
LODGING & MEALS
Cedarkirk will provide complementary housing Friday night, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. All participants will be housed in air-conditioned facilities, with each individual or family unit housed apart from each other. Depending on how many volunteers are present, meals will be served across one or both dining halls to ensure distancing of family units.
WHO CAN COME?
We encourage all individuals and families who love Cedarkirk to join us for this event. Children of all ages are welcome as long as a guardian or parent can supervise young children while others work. Cedarkirk will not be providing childcare for this work weekend.
OTHER WAYS TO SUPPORT THE “FACELIFT”
If you’re not available to join us but still want to pitch in, you can help us lower the costs of the projects we have planned by sponsoring one. Click HERE to see a list of our projects and their price tags. You can adopt a project in full or with a partial gift. We are grateful for your support of these work weekends, whether you come to volunteer, send a gift, or both!
HOW TO REGISTER
If you and/or your family are interested in joining us, please RSVP to Mark Orendorf at 813-685-4224 x4. We need to know the number of people in your family, their ages, which weekend you’d like to attend, and get a sense of the skills you are bringing to the work weekend so that we can plan projects accordingly.
